Best Memory Foam Dog Beds (4 Comfy Sleep Stations for Your Pup)

If you're looking for the best memory foam dog beds, you're in the right spot. Similar to orthopedic beds, memory foam dog beds are definitely on the higher end of the scale in terms of quality. Further, many orthopedic dog beds incorporate memory foam into their design to help give them the full orthopedic effect!

In a sense, they are very similar, but you can’t quite use the terms interchangeably. Orthopedic dog bed is a much more inclusive phrase; they are regularly paired with heating components, cooling components, and other things that help dogs with muscle and joint issues.

What Makes an Excellent Memory Foam Dog Bed?

There are several things to look for, and we’re going to run you through them! It’s important to take all of these things into consideration even if they don’t seem like a big deal to you now.

            Thickness

You want a memory foam dog bed that is thick. I’d say no less than 5”. The entire idea of a memory foam mattress is to conform to your dog when he lies down. That being said, a 1” thick dog bed just isn’t going to cut it. I say no less than 5”, but ideally you should shoot for 7”.

            Cover

If your dog is anything like my dog, they tend to be a little smelly every now and then. It’s alright, I still love her, but I don’t necessarily love the smell, so I do that I can. I prefer a dog bed that will allow me to remove the cover and throw it in the washer when needed. When you have a memory foam bed that is all in one piece, it’s not as easy to clean, and throwing it in the washer could ruin it.

            Material

Is this bed waterproof? Because it probably should be. This is mostly the case for puppies or very old dogs, but you just don’t want their body fluids seeping into the memory foam mattress. It’ll make the bed smell, and it will be incredibly tough to get the smell out of it. We get it, dog beds are supposed to smell a little, but any precautions you can take to make it smell less, especially if it’s going to be around for several years, we support.

            memory foam dog bed reviews

This is a bed for the larger dogs. It’s huge (40” X 35” X 4”). It’s excellent for dogs that are in pain or even for preventative care.

This is a little thinner than I original recommended. It’s 4” thick. However, because it’s such a large base, it has more surface contact area for the dog to spread out. I think this makes up for the loss in thickness.

Another great thing about this dog bed is that it’s made from 100%, medical grade, hypoallergenic material. Did I mention it’s made in the great US of A? Oh yeah, this bad boy is 100% American made. Some people don’t care about that sort of thing, but I find value in that.

This bed has been highly recommended by people who have purchased it. They celebrate its size, quality, and the fact that it has a cover that can be washed. All that in consideration, we recommend this dog bed as well! It has everything a well-made, memory foam dog bed should have.

            memory foam dog bed ratings

This is an excellent bed. It’s made from 100% memory foam except for the cover. Speaking of which, the cover is really great. It comes with two separate layers of protective surfaces.

It comes with one waterproof cover and a suede cover that zips up and has a rubber, no slip bottom. This is a very high-quality bed in my opinion, and the covers help preserve the quality of the bed for several years.

It’s excellent for ageing pets, or ones with an injury, or who are prone to injury. It also comes in different sizes so everyone’s pet can enjoy it!

            furhaven pet dog bed lounger

This wonderful lounger by FurHaven is a perfect option for injured, arthritic or senior dogs. Its low profile allows your pet to climb into this bed easily even if she has difficulties with moving.

The inner base of this dog bed is dense, medical-grade orthopedic foam with the cooling gel foam on the top which adds even more soothing for aching joints. The ergonomic design with raised sides allows your fur pal to snooze in any position she likes. What's more, I like its luxury Microvelvet cover for outstanding comfort.

where to buy memory foam dog beds

Alright, I’ll admit it; this bed is so comfy I want to sleep in it! It comes in different sizes so all sort of dogs can enjoy it.

It’s also one of the least expensive memory foam dog beds you’ll find. It comes with a heavy-duty, plush, waterproof canvas that can be removed for easy cleaning. This is a comfy, high-quality bed that hundreds of dog owners have recommended.

            dog beds with memory foam

How much do you love your dog? Do you love them enough to get them their own sofa-bed? This is essentially that: a sofa-bed. It’s well-made, thick, and it’s wonderful for ageing or injured dogs.

The bed comes with a removable cover so it’s easy to wash. I know, I keep recommending beds with the removable cover, but it’s important to us to have a nice, clean smelling home. When you have a dog bed with a removable cover helps preserve that.

Also, the dog bed is nice and thick. It won’t bottom out when your dog lays on it. This is an incredibly important detail to keep in mind especially for an ageing dog. This will help them benefit from the orthopedic nature of the dog bed.

Choosing the right memory foam dog bed is hard for your pets. Some pets are just very picky. Some memory foam flattens out and doesn’t go back to its original form. This is a very detailed and helpful article. You have a lot to consider when choosing the right memory foam dog bed including the materials.

Just like humans canines want and need their own personal space. Having their own space offers the feeling of security and independence. You can get your pet their own crate and provide them the security they need. One of the things you as a pet owner have to consider is the type of bed your pet will sleep on. Size is your first consideration, for instance, if you have a large canine you have to shop for dog beds for large dogs.

I want to make sure that I get the right dog bed for my dog. It makes sense that getting one made with memory foam would be beneficial! That seems like a great way to let my dog sleep comfortably.
